2018 Vinho Espumante Maria Gomes
Why we love this wine:
For us, the name Maria Gomes conjures up classic black and white movie glamour. But while this wine certainly has the youthful attitude of Lauren Bacall, the fresh-faced charm of Ingrid Bergman and the star quality of a Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn, Maria Gomes is actually the regional name for the grape Fernão Pires – a variety famed in Bairrada, Portugal.
Moments to linger longer:
Spicy aromatics, floral notes and exotic tangerine-like fruit. Notes of apple and fresh lemons. With a toasty biscuit finish on the palate.
Recommendations for enjoyment:
This is your new crisp patio white. It is perfect for social occasions and hot days. Pair with brie and cranberry crisps. Toasted granola and nuts. Grilled fish and fresh fruit salads.
2018 Domaine Reine Juliette Rose
Why we love this wine:
This winery is managed by women who's branding is based on their femininity and love for afternoon wines by the sea. Reine Juliette’s wines are simple, and extremely well-made, shown by their natural, low sugar content.
Domaine Reine Juliette is located in the heart of the Languedoc less than 10 kilometers from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea 50 km south of Montpellier. By its situation the vineyard benefits from a micro climate. The climate is tempered by sea breezes and fogs, ideal to perfect the maturity of these wines. The vineyard is located more precisely between the Garrigue and the Mediterranean at the edge of the pond of Thau. This family estate, for six generations, is located on the road to Queen Juliette which is the oldest Roman road of Gaul, built in 118 BC Its name was given following the passage of a certain Queen Juliette.
Moments to linger longer:
A blend of Grenache and Syrah, this wine shows bright strawberry, pomegranate and watermelon rind notes with excellent acidity and focus.
Recommendations for enjoyment:
Prosciutto, melon, hummus, quiche, couscous, grilled sausage and fish. Another perfect patio cuisine accompaniment!
2017 Reuilly Dyckeroff Pinot Noir
Why we love this wine:
Environmentally focused. Part of the "Terra Vitis" label, they are committed in sustainable process. Each year, a control is led from vine-growing to the bottle to achieve healthy and genuine wines while allowing the full expression of the terroirs.
Moments to linger longer:
Ruby and bright colour. Fruity nose. It reveals fine scents of greedy red fruits. The mouth confirms its nose with discreet but tense tannins. Fruits appear with a hint of licorice. A sensation of lightness and freshness. A harmonious final.
Recommendations for enjoyment:
Any elements of goat cheese, cooked pear, salmon and salami bring this Pinot to life. Avoid too much salt and opt for heavier in the herbs with this wine. You won't regret it.
Why we love this wine:
Since October 2010 we have been recognized as a PAGO WINE (“Vino de Pago”), as defined by the Spanish Vineyard and Wine Law, becoming the first winery in Aragón to have this title and one of the 10 wineries that in Spain possesses this exclusive Designation of Origin granted only to the wineries with the highest level of quality excellence. In the Spanish wine quality pyramid, the Pago stands as the top tier with respect to other Designations of Origin. As such, they must comply with strict requirements relating to the process of production, processing and bottling such as: for the production of a Pago wine, only grapes coming from the Pago may be used. MMDW carries the only Pago wines in this price range. All others begin at double.
Moments to linger longer:
Attractive deep cherry red in colour. The wine displays pronounced intensity on the nose, well defined, with an extraordinary complex and wide range of aromas (fresh red fruits, ink, spices and final floral character). In the mouth, the wine is clearly defined by its elegance and fruit intensity. Harmonious and well balanced, medium to full bodied.
Recommendations for enjoyment:
Think grilled rich red meats, aged cheeses, smoked potatoes and garlic- infused bread. Plan for casual sips with friends on warm summer nights and make these wine notes last by adding aspects of blackberries and blueberries, spice and balsamic in your meal. Seasoning with spice is a big recommend for this wine.
If you were lucky enough to get in on this box, we truly hope you enjoyed our recommendations. If you missed out, these wines are still available for purchase. Drop us a line and let us know how we did!
Dream big, love deeply.
